Job Ids

Jobs have 2 different ids :
  • JobId
    • This is an auto generated number assigned by the JobStore and can be used for getting/accessing jobs quickly from the job store. Mostly useful if you have vast numbers of Jobs in the store and only unique per install (i.e. if you kill your job store and re-create, a number might be re-used).
  • UniqueJobId
    • This is a guid that is either auto assigned (not too useful) or can be manually assigned by the creator of the job. The idea behind this is that at development time, you know exactly what the job's unique id will be so you can add something like a constant to trigger a specific job from your code.
    • Since this can be set by the job creator, you can be sure that this id is unique no matter what the job store auto numbering is at.
